Mindfulness Meditation

The SGBCHC offers a 6-week Mindfulness Meditation program for clients and non-clients coping with stress, pain, illness and sorrow. We wholeheartedly believe in this program; in addition to the evidence described in the article above, the idea of focusing on the present moment makes a lot of sense as a therapeutic intervention for depression and anxiety.

"When they're depressed, people are locked in the past. They're ruminating about something that happened that they can't let go of... When they're anxious, they're ruminating about the future -- it's that anticipation of what they can't control." (see article here)

The Centre will be offering 5 sessions this year, and each one will run on Thursdays for 6 weeks, from 2-4pm. Sessions start on:

  1. January 8th, 2015 (already in process)
  2. March 5th, 2015
  3. April 30th, 2015
  4. August 27th, 2015
  5. November 5th, 2015


What is required? 
These workshops are free, but space is limited. We ask that participants be willing to meditate on their own for 45 minutes a day throughout the 6 weeks in order to truly benefit from the Mindfulness Meditation program.
