7 Weeks to Better Sleep

Date and Time: 7 weeks total; clients attend four two hour group meetings and three fifteen minute individual phone coaching sessions with an optional phone coaching session following the conclusion of the group.

Description: The Better Sleep group is for anyone who suffers from insomnia; including those who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, or those who do not feel restored following a night of sleep. This is an educational program that will cover the following topics: general sleep education, how to keep a sleep diary, healthy sleep practices, suggestions for strengthening the bed-sleep connection, understanding the impact of thoughts on sleep, managing racing night time thoughts, restructuring day-time thoughts and relaxation strategies.

Location: At the CHC in the boardroom

Outside of SGBCHC: Amanda is open to running the program off site if a partner organization requests it.

 

Mental Health First Aid Basic

Date and Time: TBD 12 hour course offered 2 days (6 hours) or 4 days (3 hours) within two week period

Description: MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.

Mindfulness Meditation

Date and Time: next offering August 24, 2017 9:30-11:00am 6 weeks

Description: Based on Jon Kabat Zinn's Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners. A meditation program teaching present moment awareness and acceptance of thoughts and feelings. Learn to create a mindful pause in response to life's experiences.

STOP Smoking Cessation Program

For clients who wish to quit smoking

Date and Time:  Scheduled Individual Counselling Sessions available during CHC clinic hours

Description:  A Smoking Cessation Program directed by CAMH that provides clients with free NRT

products and individual counselling

You must be a Community Health Centre client to participate.

No fees
